Wonderful... Staff are lovely, food real deal Italian & delicious, great wines, perfect atmosphere & setting. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Always wonderful food and service

Must be one of the worst meals I have had a long time. The starters were shocking.... Luke warm potato croquettes and dry balls that were tasteless. Then we had to wait over an hour for the main meals and I wish it hadn't arrived. The belly pork was dry and overcooked with a few cold fried potato squares which we sent back and the pasta dish was also tasteless. No apologies from the staff who then proceeded to ignore us for the duration of the time we were there. Will not be returning.... I only gave it one star as it will not let me post without....

Cute and cosy place to eat, we ordered the ragu and was very happy, delicious! Happy and polite staff, happy to explain the specials in more detail for me as I dont usually visit italian restaurants until recently, (now there my favourite) if we are in york again we will definitely return for another visit 😊 Picture added of my ragu, presentation was much better, I had already eaten some by the time I took the picture!

Excellente pizzas and really nice staff

The best pizza I’ve had in this country every slice reminds me of the pizza back in Italy definitely worth the price the restaurant itself has a lovely atmosphere and friendly staff.

I have no words to describe how wonderfull this place made me feel. When you take your first step in, the restaurant gives the idea of a rustic wine store but then you find yourself traped in a piece of Italy itself. It made me cry tears of joy as it has me re-live what I once felt when I lived in Italy. The pizza is something to dream of. It has the authentic taste of a true Italian pizza. Also, it is rare to find such lovely owners. They have been so friendly and made me and my family feel so welcome. One last thing I must add: if you ever want to feel like you are in Italy, please do come here. You won't be disappointed!

Came across L’uva during lockdown and it is the silver lining! We now enjoy it on a weekly basis and don’t their is anyone it York that will be able to beet it!

I was in York for a few days and with a pleasant surprise I happened upon the Uva restaurant where I found excellent cuisine, I would say never found in the Italian restaurants I have been to. Qualified staff and what about the chef Franco Putzolu ??? A great!!! Not to be missed!!!!

Authentic Italian restaurant, excellent choice of wines, good service throughout the evening & certainly the best Italian food I've had since my last visit to Rome. Thoroughly recommended.

Good authentic Italian food. Fresh pasta and ingredients. The coccoli starter is particularly good. Great wine selection and nice relaxed atmosphere. Staff is great and knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

The Risotto with black truffles is to die for! I’ve come from the USA to dine here again. The best Italian food and wine. Great staff and atmosphere. I must try for anyone in or near York.

So good, the staff were very helpful and friendly, the menu is small but everything was delicious. I had risotto for the first time, it was so tasty, and I had trio of tirimasu absolutely gorgeous!

I have been to L'uva every time I have visited York since they opened. My partner is Italian, and we appreciate most the fact the food is traditional indeed! The pasta dishes are simple but delicious... Moreover, they change their menu choices in accordance with the seasonal products.. so every time it's a sweet surprise! Have a look at the wine list if you are a wine lover as you will not be disappointed!

It is an Italian restaurant of traditional Italian food in the heart of England, next to the Adriáno wall. You can not miss it.

Ok, what a great experience. Food was as near as Italy you are going to get in York. Superb quality and service was probably the best we have had for years.....If you want typical rustic Italian food, not Pizza and Pasta, but true cuisine, then this is a must. The staff are exceptional and very open and honest on their choosen subject, yes Italian wine....OMG do they have a selection. Well worth a visit, leave the car keys at home and sample their ample Italian wines and fine food. I had Tuna, of which was fantastic, the best since Rome in 2008, my daughters birthday.

Genuine Italian food and lovely staff

Chose because of excellent reviews. Arrived and told table needed by 8pm(1 hour 20 mins after arrival ). Menus arrived fairly quickly but then took some time to take order. Food took about 15 minutes which was ok. Only one course ordered. Food ok but nothing you’d want to go back for.Finished meal by 7.50 and just about to finish wine when asked to move tables. Told owner/manager of this but he became very rude and told him of delay in ordering. But he would not listen. Found him abrupt and completely lacking in customer skills. I would add that a group of 14 people left while we were there as they did not like his attitude. He found them very noisy but I had no complaint with them. All in all a very poor experience after some lovely meals elsewhere in York this week. The owner/manager needs some training in customer service. Would strongly advise not to go to this restaurant.

I guess I hit them on a bad day. Out of spaghetti, no less! Decent food overall. Greasy zucchini flowers.

Restaurant serving amazing, authentic Italian food. We chose the ossobucco and a special of saffron rice with lobster, both were superb. I asked for a glass of dry white wine and was very impressed that two bottles were brought to the table to try. The puddings were decent though not as good as the mains, but overall it was fantastic.

A lovely atmosphere with friendly staff. The Coccoli and the Crostini with Nduja were particularly delicious, as was the wine selection.
